The Stranahan Arboretum is a 47 acre property owned by the University of Toledo. Validation data was collected from an existing database of soil moisture for the 15 sites shown above. The gravimetric method was used to calculate moisture percent at 0 to 5 cm depth. The procedure for moisture percent is fairly simple, and remains one of the most accurate ways determine moisture. The formula is shown below:
